P.S.Y. This is truely a great song, isn't it??? I left out most of the noisy solo stuff, because there's 2 guitars there and they're both improvising. Anyways, during the first bit, one guitar plays nothing but a low droning open E string. I tabbed it in a position that makes it easy to play this drone while playing the actual notes of the song, but Paul probably plays it in a different position. ^ is a hammer on or pull-off, \ is a slide, and "b" is a bend. D------------------------------------------------------------------- A-12-12-11-------12--12--12-11b----------17--17-17-17-17-17-17-16--- E-(guitar 2 plays a low drone on this string)----------------------- D---17-17-16--17-16-17-17-17--17-16---17-17-16-16-17-17-16-16-ETC------- A--------------------------------------------------------------17-17-16- E----------------------------------------------------------------------- Verse starts: "Here we go"... D--------------------------- A--12-12-11-11-11-11-11-etc- play twice E--------------------------- G----------------------------------- --9-9-9-9- D----------------------------------- --9-9-9-9- A-12-12-11-11-9-9-7-7-5-5-7-7-9-9-7- play 2X, 2nd time go --7-7-7-7-etc. E-(guitar 2 keeps playing drone)---- ---------- E----------------------------0---------------------------------------- B------------------------------0-------------------------------------- G--------------------------------0------------------------------10b**- D---------------------------------0----------------------------------- A-12-12-11-11-9-9-7-7-9-9-7-----------9-9-7-7-5-5-7-7-7\9-9-7--------- E--------------------------------------------------------------------- ** bend that note up and down with tremolo bar Then it goes into this section. The guitar that was playing the drone before now plays the above guitar riffs, while the 1st guitar plays: All these notes are harmonics: D--------------X-- A-----7--------X-- E--9-----7--5--X-- After it does that for a while, it goes to this: ****************************** E----------------------------------X-X-X-X----------------- B-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12(etc)--X-X-X-X----------------- G----------------------------------X-X-X-X---------10b**--- bend with trem bar D--------------------------------------------2------------- A--------------------------------------------2------------- E--------------------------------------------0------------- ********* - these notes are harmonics, but may not be in the right spot, it is a B harmonic, but perhaps an octave lower. Then, at 1:30, both guitars break into a solo. I tabbed the first couple seconds of it to give you an idea of what notes are in it, etc. and what each guitar does. But remember, the secret is to improvise!!! Guitar 1: E---------------------------------------------------------- B---------------------------------------------------------- G---10b--7----------4--2-2\4-----7-----7-4-7-9b---9~~~~~--- D---------------------------------------------------------- Guitar 2: G-------------------2-4-2-2\4------------------------------ D--------------2\4----------------------------------------- Not much, but a start, I guess. I forget where it goes then (maybe back to harmonics??), but I know it goes to a total noise break, and sometime ends up here: While guitar 1 plays this, guitar 2 plays steady muted strings. B-------------------------------------------------------------- G--------------7--------------------7---7-9b-------9^7^9^7***-- D--------7-7^9----------7b------7-9---9------------------------ A--0----------------------------------------------------------- *** is a fast trill (see John E. Smoke tab for trill explanation) that is dropped with the trem bar to make it sound like it's going down the fretboard. Or maybe he is going down the fretboard. But a trem bar will work. D---9----X-X--7--- This is played somewhere in there. After that, A---9----X-X--7--- just go to a whole bunch of wacko trem bar E---7----X-X--5--- bends while guitar 2 sticks to it's mutes. then: A--12-12-11-11-9-9-7-7-5-5-7-7-9-9-11-11-12-12-11-11-9-9-7-7-5-5- B---------9---etc. hang on that chord, then play noisy G---------9--- crap, then: D---------9--- A-7-7-9-9-7--- at 3:37 play: E--------------------0--- Repeat, then just dick around as much as B---2-----X-X-X-X----0--- humanly possible!! G---2-----X-X-X-X----1--- D---2-----X-X-X-X----2--- A---0-----X-X-X-X----2--- E--------------------0--- Eventually, they arrive to: G---12-11----------------------- REPEAT!!! D----------12-11---------11-12-- A-----------------12-11--------- That goes into TOTAL noise, then at 5:38 or so, the harmonic riff begins again. At 6:05 or so, play: A---------------------------------- REPEAT E--10-10-9-10---10-10-9-10--10\12-- then go to an E chord, and the song changes to: G-2---2-2-4-4-6-6-7-7-6-6-4\2------2-2-4-4-6-6-7-7-6-6-4-0-----0^2-2\4-2-- D-2----------------------------------------------------------------------- A-0----------------------------------------------------------------------- Then, play an E to A chord progression, the opposite of what was played at 3:37. Then, the "Nicki was in the KKK" part's chords go: B--9---11----7----9--- G--9---11----7----9--- D--9---11----7----9--- A--7----9----5----7--- E-----------------0--- The next part (something about a Graveyard)'s chords are: E-0---------2----0--- After that, return to the "no one could B-0----7----2----0--- believe that she was running away" part. G-1----7----3----1--- D-2----7----4----2--- A-2----5----4----2--- E-0---------2----0--- The outro sticks on an E chord, sort of like: B----------------------------9- G--9---9-9---9------------9--9- D--9---9-9---9----5-5\7-9----9- A--7---7-7---7---------------7- E--0---0-0---0---------------0- Then there's the part that mimics the vocals: E---16b-16b--16-16---------------- B-------------------17b---17-17--- THAT'S IT!!! All the main riffs are there, you can make up your own solos. This is an incredible song and it was a hell of a lot of fun tabbing it.
